Eilat Bound

Jumping out of bed at 5.30am was not what I wanted after a night on the vino, but the taxi was arriving at 6.30 to whisk us away to Tel Aviv airport, on our return leg we fly into Haifa, hooray unfortunately we couldn't get the outward bound from Haifa due to the flights being full, but the journey to the airport wasn't to bad as I slept the whole way and woke as we arrived at the airport security gate.

We arrived at Terminal 1 and it wasn't even open so we hung around outside until the doors were opened, then it was hang around again until check in opened. I don't think I have ever seen such a quiet airport, but I have to say the staff were very friendly and security much better than Tel Aviv.

We shuffled onto the plane and off we went, heading south to Eilat, the journey took 45 mins and getting our luggage took all of five minutes no passport control straight through. My Beloved now wants to know if he could commute from Eilat to work, I could see the positives in that.

Jordan Mountains

View from our loungers
Five minutes from the airport and we arrived at the Crowne Plaza our room was still being prepared so we hit the sun beds and roasted in the 45 degree heat, overlooking the marina and the Red sea ohhh its beautiful.  The pool was busy with lots of families enjoying the sun and water, we passed a few hours before our room was ready and then we were given our room key room 922 top floor with a perfect view of the marina the Red Sea and the mountains of Jordan and Eilat on either side.

We showered and decided to investigate all that Eilat had to offer, we strolled along the marina taking in the beautiful sights, and Eilat really is beautiful, apparently it's a playground for the rich and famous. We headed along the shoreline and found lovely shops, and cafes, Natalie called to check everything was ok for us, and to give us information on the area.

We sat in Moses Bar and watched the people playing in the water whilst drinking cappuccino and beer, although My Beloved didn't finish his beer due to the awful smell and taste, he decided they need to clean their pipes...... Then we strolled in the other direction checking out the stalls, and shops and eateries.  We walked passed the Hilton and it is the most amazing building, all turrets and glass, Natalie has told us their is a good seafood restaurant in the Hilton so we may be making a visit.

We settled on PagoPage for our supper, and it was set on the marina, glass on three sides and the twinkling lights of the boats and Eilat marina making the whole scene very romantic, well that was until we  ordered the blue crab, there is nothing romantic about getting own and dirty with a pair of crab crackers, ewwww it was lush, and My Beloved was amazed at me because he knows me so well and I hate fighting with food, but since leaving the UK my confidence with many things has improved, and also I know no one here so who cares if I make a pickle, and the crab dribbles off my chin! I had ordered Sea shell pago for my main course which was calamari and shrimp in a sea shell topped with cheese, offft it was lovely but the cream filled me up after the first bite, but the calamari was do delicious I persevered, we eventually rolled home with full bellies, I lay on the bed and rested my belly, lucky for me its a big bed so there was plenty of room for My Beloved to lay next to me without actually interfering with my overly full belly.....
