My Beloved survived without having his nostrils super glued but only just, he is on a last warning though. Well where to start, we had set the alarm on 3rd Jan, well really it was the 4th by the time we got to our beds, and with the amount of sleep we actually got I'm not sure it was really worth going to bed. Nevertheless, we got out of bed early to begin stripping the beds and getting the house prepared for the packers.
The Packers arrived promptly at 9.30 although they were cursing the weather as the removal lorry didn't like the slippy roads, neither did the Golf come to that, My Beloved was back to the tip again and again, but when turning the car at the top of the road, the tyre grip disappeared. But the house was cosy and the packers began the arduous task of wrapping my precious belongings ready for their sea voyage across the Mediterranean, they worked amazing quickly and efficiently and fueled mainly by coffee. Every time they finished a room I would sweep in, sweep up, and wipe down, the only time this was a problem was when I needed to hoover the stairs, although I did offer to place a mattress at the bottom in case I tripped anyone up. Death by Dyson can be quite tricky on an insurance claim.....
The only minor Demented moment I had was when I discovered my corner cupboard was hanging off the hinge, arggggggggg think the large lad had tried to get in the pan cupboard and obviously his bulk was wider than the doorway, but My Beloved came to the rescue and said 'calm down its just a commercial' he re-hinged the hinge and all was good in the hood. We waved goodbye to our belongings at around 2.30pm and it suddenly struck us that 'this is it'. All that was left for us to do was finish our bags, a few bits of cleaning and we took ourselves off to Glenfor where we would be staying until we leave on Friday for Aberdeen.
6.30 and its Tea at The Fullwoods, Roast Chicken with all the trimmings, Buba was cranky until they removed his clothes ready for his bath, My Beloved believes Buba was cranky because his skin was burning from wearing his Manchester United strip! The Buba was bathed and cuddled before his bed and then the adults sat and blethered. We walked up the road to Glenfor, but not before knocking up the neighbours, and lifting up some windy wipers, oh yeah and falling hands down on the pavement because I didn't see the kerb, bruised hands, bloody knee, but thank the Lord my face was saved. The bruise on my hand is a cracker so thank god my hands went down first......and it really does serve me right for pulling up someones windy wipers.
We had a wonderfully comfortable night at the Parker Residence and being able to make coffee whenever we pleased was a godsend, for two caffeine addicts like us having our kettle removed is a little like loosing a limb, first you get the shakes, then you get the blood pressure drop and eventually you have to visit coffee establishments for transfusions.
January 5th arrived again too early, and we took ourselves up to Slackadale to collect the last of our bags and and take the meter readings before the keys were passed OMG another Demented moment for me, now as I have mentioned before I don't do numbers, so when I took the meter readings I checked them, rechecked them, and then checked them again for good measure, so imagine my horror when the customer service advisor for our energy provider informed me that our readings were not in sync with our previous readings and we would have to have a HOLD put on our account........I came off the phone visibly distressed and ended up asking My Beloved to call back and speak to an advisor, so we spoke to Peter who once again took our meter readings and informed My Beloved that all the readings were in fact in sync and advised us that all was right with the meter and we had nothing to worry about......Peter reassured me we would not be getting a £3000.00 bill and that he would be closing our account forthwith.
We collected the Little Princes after lunch and took them off into Aberdeen to buy Our Beloved his new ipad, we love Apple we do, and our Beloved loves his new ipad, and feels like he is in the in crowd now.
Tonight we have delivered keys, said our goodbyes, and been given a Lush bottle of Whisky, which Eldest Prince said we can use for our Quaich when we get to Israel. I haven't been able to see My Clone sister on her birthday today, but we have spoken, this was hard enough, as my birthday card to her had already made her bubble, and we both decided that it maybe wasn't a good idea to meet up and say goodbye, so we said our goodbyes over the phone, and we will see each other again in the summer.
We have had so many lovely farewell messages from our friends via text and facebook that we feel very honoured and humbled. We will miss you guys very much and thank you all for your friendship over the years. Tomorrow will be my last UK blog and then its Israel here we come.
