Purim

Today I woke with My Beloved and we chatted before he left for work, I set up my blog for the day and then took the bus to the University to meet Noor. Noor is going to be teaching me Hebrew, now today is Purim which is very exciting, but not so exciting for Noor as the bus from Isfiya, Noor's village does not run through the University because from her side of the mountain the University is shut, so after a few phone calls we decided to meet at The Horev centre. Noor arrived just as I had ordered my Americano and we sat and chatted about how I would like my lessons to go, from the beginning would be good. So we have settled on Monday, Wednesday and Friday three hours a day, venue the University, not actually in the classrooms but in the coffee shops and Libraries. I have a feeling I'm going to be a dreadful student, poor Noor!!

The University is set on the outskirts of Haifa and just on the edge of the Carmel Forrest and the views over the countryside were amazing, lush and green and you could just make us some of the many nature trails that are scattered over the mountain, this weekend I think we will be visiting the Carmel Forest and its surrounding villages, most especially the Druze village and Isfiya, where apparently the shops are open on the weekend. woohooo.

Having made our arrangement's Noor and I said goodbye, and I hopped on the but back up to Carmel centre. The place is buzzing with children and adults the restaurant's and bars are preparing their outside areas, and the children are having a concert in the park.  I met Andre and Jennifer for lunch and we had a quick peek in the park and their were youngsters dancing in the staged area, their were people sitting on the grass and children playing, and bubble machines and all sorts. We made our way to Mandarin for lunch and we chatted about California which is where Jennifer is from, and Botswana which is where Andre spent a lot of his childhood. Jennifer and I then took ourselves off for our spa treatment, we were given robes and lead to our massage tables. The oil used was hot which is something I have never experienced before, and I have to say I really liked it.  When my massage was finished I was so chilled our and relaxed and my body felt amazing.  We then were given a salt scrub and we hit the sauna, which was lovely and toasty, we applied the scrub and chatted in the heat, unfortunately a gentleman came in and decided it wasn't toasty enough and asked for the heat to be turned off, Jennifer disappeared in the mist, and breathing was becoming laboured, if my pores had opened anymore I thing I would have drowned in my own sweat.  Time for a sharp exit, now this is where I turned Israeli, the showers were full and I couldn't be bothered to wait, so I put on my bathrobe and took the lift to the 7th floor, thankfully I saw no one, because I would have been affronted, sweaty head, red skin and a bathrobe, so unattractive.

I got back to my room and showered off the remnants of the salt scrub, now today is International Women's Day and in my room I had been left a beautiful tub of something, and I had to ask Sharbel what it was, and its a body butter of sorts with a lovely lemon scent, so I applied my new butter and I smelt rather edible when I mixed it with my body shop Ice cream flavoured body butter, the flies are gonna love me.

We met everyone in the Lobby and headed towards the noise, as we rounded the corner, we were met with a phenomenal sight, the stage that had been built in the road was alive with lights and song, the band that were playing were brilliant and they used puppets in the show, one looked like Roland Rat and one was like Animal from the muppets, the street was a wash with people, young and old, the Carmel centre had turned into one large party, all the carts where selling a multitude of wares from wine, to lager, to chinese food, to pizza and on and on, our favourite wine bar 107 even had a cart and we didn't want to appear rude so we had a glass or two just to be sociable. We ate chinese from cartons and watched the world go by, it was so busy I actually thought the world had descended on Haifa, We worked our way up the street, there were people hanging from ribbons doing acrobatics, and two guys on scaffolding playing beat boxes. We headed towards Habank and had another sociable tipple then we landed in a pub we haven't been in before, not sure I would go back, funny little place. I toddled home alone having partaken of just one more than I should have,  apparently I was comatose when My Beloved arrived back to the room.
