Gondi Dumpling and Fillet Kebab

Today was started with a blast in the gym, I busted my abs with a new four minute routine that almost had me crying, and that was after 30 mins on the bike which was torture after our Netanya Bike ride and the two previous heavy gym sessions, I find myself walking a little like Mrs Brown on drink, I can't seem to get my knees to meet and a seem to be listing to the right.

My Beloved eventually arrived home, the news is that my very pregnant friend is in hospital, unfortunately she has been for the last five days, fingers crossed the baby gets a wriggle on, being stuck in hospital is not the best most of the time, but when you don't speak the clacker lacker language it has to be torture.

We headed into Tel Aviv and the Carmel market to catch the stalls before they closed, if your gonna buy veg best you get it from the market because them supermarkets are seriously not the best when it comes to soft and delicate produce, well apart from TivTam the Russian supermarket that is, now their fruits and vegetables always look the part and they don't taste too bad either. Before we purchased our veggies we decided to eat as neither of us had eaten since the previous evening, now don't feel sorry for us because what we had eaten with the Little Prince's the previous evening could have fed a small country, so we were living off the calories previously consumed and we still weren't in deficit yet.

So anyway we decided on a little cafe that was towards the top of the market area, and we ordered Fillet skewers and Gondi, Gondi is a delightful Persian Jewish speciality and one we have not happened across until today, well we don't think we have, the Gondi ball is made from Chicken, grated onions, salt, pepper, olive oil, turmeric, cardamon, dried sour lemon, and ground chickpeas, the ball sits in a chicken broth with potato and is traditionally a dish made for a Shabbat dinner. The ghetto's of Tehran is where this dish was apparently invented, and we loved it, it came with the skewer of fillet steak we had ordered, skewered to perfection, with rice, pittas and tahini, it was a delicious combination of ghetto and decadence, honestly who would eat doughballs with fillet, but let me tell you it needed to be done.

We finished our meal and headed to catch the stalls before they closed for the evening, we grabbed what we needed for our New Years Day dinner, we are having Turkey crown as I have seriously been missing my traditional Turkey dinners, I usually have had about ten by now, so New Year will rectify this problem.  We headed to the supermarket for the crown and a few other bits and pieces then took ourselves home and spent another hour in the gym, I took it upon myself to put My Beloved through the ab routine I had done, earlier so I have now done eight minutes of the ab blast and by god did I know it, I still can't walk well with the achy muscles but I keep telling myself it will get easier, it will get easier, it will get easier.

When putting away the shopping My Beloved missed this and as I picked it up I read the label, not sure I would agree on whose food it is!!!
