District 9

We woke and showered then got on our bikes and cycled to Tel Aviv, the trouble with having a few rainy days means that the coast road was a tad flooded, we ended up having to go over the dunes, which lead to me stressing about being run over by a motocross bike, or worse still a dune buggy, I cycled with my legs off the pedals (no mean feat) if I was gonna get hit I was taking that bugger down with my spreadeagled legs, bit tricky pedalling with your feet that wide though

Me and My Friend
We arrived in Jaffa in time for lunch the weather was glorious and we headed up to the top of Jaffa for the restaurants with outside seating, which would have been ok had I chosen a place with outdoor seating, anyway it turned out to be an amazing little find, we ordered the house bread, which came wrapped in its own newspaper, Olive bread with a spicy tomato dip, and a spicy avocado dip which were amazing, we watched the boats going in and out of the harbour as we waited for our main course to arrive, we ordered Lamb Gyros, I had originally chosen the fish of the day, but my head was turned by the lamb as the waiter described it to My Beloved, when it arrived it was the most amazing dish, filled with flavours that sent raptures up and down my tastebuds, lamb with spices, coriander with chilli, onions and yogurt, what a delight, we devoured our meals and were truly stuffed by the end.

We left the restaurant and headed back to our bikes and took the road home again to Herzliya, this time we decided to take a little detour along the streets, we had a great time checking out the lovely streets of Tel Aviv, especially as it was Shabbat and the streets were so very quiet, we found a lovely little ice cream store and decided on a little pit stop, I order two tubs of something that looked and tasted lush when I was given the little taster, I have no idea what it was as the name was in Hebrew and the girl did tell me but I just smiled and said give me, give me, small is not small in Israel, I should have taken the baby pot, as I had been given a tub that was piled higher than my five feet two stature, so I could do no more than climb on a chair just to reach the top of my small tub of ice cream.

We eventually arrived back home very weary after what turned out to be our 40k cycle to Jaffa and back, we were so knackered we decided on a wee snooze before supper, this turned out to be a long snooze and when we woke we decided to watch District 9, wow initially I thought it was some kind of spoof film, but it actually wasn't funny, and those prawns just made me feel sick, not the best film to watch before supper.

Today we discovered new streets in Jaffa with many artists stores and sculptures, we still have a lot to discover but we really need to visit when the stores are all open, maybe next week when the Little Prince's are here.
