Science Museum

This morning arrived quietly and breakfast was a sleepy affair, blogging today listening to Radio one was amusing, listening to Moyles talking about his thermal underwear, hot water bottles and Onsies. It amuses me that London is moaning and it actually appears they may be one whole degree chillier than Turriff. The difference is we would still be suffering the cold when they start to moan about the heat.

So today I set out to find the supermarket I couldn't find before, but i got sidetracked by the Science Museum, with the Little Princes visit fast approaching i thought i better check out some spots to take them, I think they will enjoy this museum, its very hands on and some of the exhibits in the ouside section are amazing, and then there is the sports science area, it's all great touchy feely stuff, and if you have met them, you will know that's what they are all about. There is even a helicoptor you pedal and make move, i sooo wanted a go on that, but managed to hold myself back.

Hooray I found it, the supermarket that is, I mooched around then mouched around the other shops along the street, before heading back up the mountain on the subway, bearing in mind I wasn't even sure which direction I was going in, I thought I did quite well to get back to the top without having to change trains, what is really odd is that The Carmel centre subway stop is called something completely different, and it's only when I noticed everyone getting off I realised this must be the end of the line...

Lunch was taken in Habank today, chicken live pâté with a warm mushroom salad. Good and bad all rolled into one. I sat with my iPad replying to mail, and catching up on the domestic stuff. Lou Lou facetimed this morning with some mail that had come through, and I had a missed call from someone in Israel, no idea who that could be I only know Natalie and it wasn't her.

I hadn't noticed till the other day, when we were chatting with Natalie, we were talking about leaving tips, and waiting staff, until recently bosses were paying staff from the tips, but then there was a revolt, and now they are paid a wage and tips on top. But what was funny was when she pointed out that all waiting staff are young, I did notice, but had taken no notice, it is not politically correct to employ older staff for waiting jobs, no part time bar work for this old fecker then.

Something else I have been meaning to write about, the difference between Italians and Israelis its all in the hand signals, My Beloved has been telling me about this for a while and we have been laughing about it together, I have finally remembered to blog about it. The reason I remembered was because when I was about to cross a zebra crossing the other day, a car was trying to reverse into a far too small space, this meant they were reversing over the poor zebra, the gentleman in the back of the car held his fingers up at me and smiled. Now if your an Italian this sign means Please to go forth and multiply, but in Israel this sign means please wait. Obviously when the Italians do it there is a lot of movement in the hand, in Israel it is a simple hand gesture with no movement.  My Beloved had told me the first time it happened to him he was none to happy, until it was explained to him, the person gesturing him didn't even turn around, just lifted his hand and held the fingers still. Now being a Geordie and quick off the mark, he had steam coming from his ears, but now he uses this gesture all the time whilst driving, he is really taking on this Israeli role. Just remember no movement is polite, too much and your in trouble.

My Beloved arrived back at the Hotel and we changed and took ourselves to the supermarket for a bottle of wine and chocolate, the wine is a gift as we are invited to Yefgeny and Deena's house for supper tonight, the chocolate is for Jason their 3 year old son.  Mark met us in reception, although we did have to wake him as he had fallen asleep in the chair, this is the trouble with swapping from night shift to day shift, the body takes an age to catch up, when you should be awake you want to sleep, and when you should be sleeping the body wakes you up.

We set off with the GPS, and once again became embroiled in the Israeli traffic, My Beloved just can't take direction, turn left Gerry, and as we cruised past the left turn, he said which left...... We eventually got to where we needed to be for our supper, Yefgeny was waiting for us to take us up to his home, Deena and Jason met us at the door, and happy days Kinda is Jason's favourite chocolate, hit scored. We sat for dinner at a table laid out like a feast, the main dish was a Russian dish if I remember right, it was rice and beef and it was delicious, the bread was home made and lush, and even Deena's father had contributed with a spicy sauce which was very fiery. We ate and we chatted, Deena went to college in Ashington which is the same college My Beloved went to, they had visited Newcastle and Durham for Christmas and were telling us how cheap everything is at home compared to here. Next dish to be presented was home made cake, not a double layer cake like a Victoria Sandwich, this was a cake similar in shape to shortbread the big round one, and it was beautiful, and homemade jam was served with it.

We left after saying our thank you's and reset the GPS for home, we ended up through the tunnel again, but it was a quicker route than the one that took us there, we said goodnight to Mark, and then on our way to our room we decided on a glass of Chardonnay and we took it to bed and lay in bed eating cake, as we had been given a doggy bag, and washed it down with Chardonnay.

I want one of these, to do my smalls
