Mr Gerry and Mrs Deweena
Israel, Finland and Sweden are seen as leading the way in 'cyber-readiness' according to a major new security report. This makes me very happy it means when I'm online in all the coffee shops and cafe's my blog is safe......
My Beloved is off to Herzliya today as his wonderful new all singing all dancing computer has decided not to play, none of the necessary security applications are on, so today he is away to see an IT man who can and will be able to sort his computer, fingers crossed.
So today I have a meeting with Lily to see the apartment-house and to go over the plans, but more importantly to go furniture shopping, not necessarily to buy, but to be shown the best places to get the things necessary to make our place our home. So I walked around to the house and met Lily at the door, we went up to the apartment and Lily explained the things that she will be doing before we move in like, lighting in certain areas, the garden, the little bits in the bathrooms, like towel holders, and such like. And then we went for coffee and sat down with the plans to write down the things I would need, EVERYTHING. Coffee finished and then we hit the roads, now Lily has openly admitted that just like My Beloved she has no sense of direction, but luckily having lived in Haifa for a long time, we arrived at the Checkpoint which is the area where the world is my oyster, well at least the world is my sofa... First stop sofa bed and wardrobe, now these sofa beds are amazing and I think I have found one I want, but I only have four choices of colour, unless I want to wait 45 days.
We then went to more sofa shops, and dining room table shops, and garden furniture shops, but I was a little distressed because I could find no BBQ shops, but I will. Lily was brilliant, she spoke with everyone in Hebrew and took sizes and prices for me. We went to lighting shops and another coffee shop, and by the time we got back to the apartment I was worn out, this lovely woman of 67 had worn me out. We said our goodbyes and went our separate ways.
Walking back to the hotel I realised I had a stonking headache, so took myself to the Business lounge for water, My Beloved called and had only just managed to get back to the port after his wasted day in Herzliya, trouble is he has to go back again tomorrow, but at least his computer is now sorted and on the network, HOORAY.
I decided I needed to eat having forgotten to eat all day so Japanika took a hit just for a change, the Seared Tuna is heaven, and I chased it with Tempura Shrimp, and loads of water. Just as I was leaving My Beloved called to say he would be home in 20, silly man has no chance of supper now cos I'm stuffed. We met at the hotel and I showed him all the plans for the house, all the brochures I had collected and explained all the furniture that I liked.
HEBREW - how to explain Hebrew, it is a cross between the sounds a person makes when Rolling their R's in Scotland and making a sound like a person spitting in the street, you know the person, the one who drags everything up from his lungs and gobs in front of you, that is the sound of Hebrew. Listening to it today, it is very animated, not with the hands, but with the highs and lows of the words, sometimes it sounds like the people speaking are fighting, and then the next minute they are speaking words of love, I have no idea if I will ever be able to learn this language but I'm going to try.
Our names seem to be causing problems for the people we have met, My Beloved is still referred to as Gerry, and even when Lily heard me say My Beloved she still referred to him as Gerry, it appears his name does not cross the language hurdle very well, and it gets stuck half way over the hurdle and when it eventually falls over the Hebrew side it comes out Gerry, where as my name has changed to Derweena, I have answered to many things over the years, I often wonder if my parents didn't like me, they should have stuck with their first choice of Jane, who can mess that name up. I have no issue with being called Derweena but I have to listen in case I'm being spoke to and don't actually realise, Natalie admitted the other day that when I was here before she couldn't understand why I didn't answer her when she called me Kate!!!!!!!
