So this morning was once again an early start, breakfast check, blog had to wait, the shipment from the UK is being delivered to our new abode at 8am, the trouble is the lovely Russian gentlemen delivering our belongings obviously are working on a different Israeli clock to us because they were early and I had to leg it round the corner to meet them. Once again the language was a little difficult, but we managed.
First thing I was told was when the container arrives I need to see eyes????? WTH what I worked out was I had to actually watch them bolt cut the tie on the container and check the belongings were inside.
When he opened the container it was sat in the middle of our street with some very irate Israelis honking on their horns, and when I looked inside it was actually difficult to see our belongings as they were right at the far end of the container, and you have to remember we didn't bring much, so it took some squinting. The container then had to move further down the mountain and the guys used another wee lorry to put the goods in and transport them to the house. 68 boxes was all we had, now bearing in mind some of this stuff was not box shaped, but we had 68 parcels and I was told we play bingo now, and as the guys bought in the parcels I had to mark them off my bingo sheet and tell them where each parcel should go. They obviously didn't know I have dyscalculia, and I had a nightmare retaining the numbers long enough from looking at them on the parcels to finding them on the bingo sheet!!!!!!!!!
Itzhak turned up just as they were finishing and lucky for me he did, this was when I needed to sign off on stuff and they needed to know if I wanted things unpacked, not a clue did I have what they were saying, but Itzhak saved the day, he also got them to take the garage stuff and gardening tools down to the warehouse under the house, phew that would save us a job later. Remember the warehouse under the house is basically a large storage area, probably a little smaller than our garage was at Slackadale, but they call it a warehouse here. The one word I can't get used to is commode, first time I was told I would need one in the bedroom I almost laughed, I explained to a gentleman last night that we give them to old folk when they need to pee pee and have trouble getting to a bathroom, here its the dressing table, go figure.
Once the guys left Itzhak showed me around the wardrobe, or Armoire as he calls it, well his wife is half french after all. The Armoire is quite a nifty little thing too, its the full length and height of the bomb shelter, and has some nifty stuff for your shoes, it has all kinds of pulley down and pushy up things, I'm gonna love filling it with my belongings, and if My Beloved is good I might let him have a little space at the end.
Itzhak and I said our goodbyes and I took myself back to the Hotel for my daily dose of blogging, the weather is a little tricky today, so I wasn't going to walk far, Natalie had bought her computer and I sorted our her itunes for her, we then had to sort a few things out on her phone, like how the hell she had my email address on her icloud, we ended up skyping Apple Aberdeen, which was redirected to a lovely American lady in Kentucky, and she helped us remove my Apple id and reset Natalie's phone. What a multi-cultural day I was having.
I eventually took my lunch in the lounge today and it was a tuna salad and HOLD THE BREAD, after lunch I took a stroll once the rain had stopped, the sun was beating down, so the sun glasses were back on with the coat an gloves. I ended up at Mandarin, I was just sitting down to my table when Nelly came over and asked if I would like to join them, herself and Itzhak were in having lunch. I joined them at their table and my Americano arrived with my rather large and lushious strawberry tart, Nelly's face was a picture, 'I thought you didn't eat pastries' hahaha I replied, only on Mon,Tue,Wed,Thur,Fri,Sat,Sunday. So we chatted and they asked about our new furniture and when it would be arriving, Nelly and Itzhak will be moving into the penthouse at the same time we move in, so we will all be moving in together.
Itzhak was sent back to work by Nelly, and myself and Nelly finished our coffees then took a walk back to the house, and Nelly gave me a guided tour of the apartment above us, its still getting all its built in goods put in place, the kitchen was in but Nelly wanted to show me the difference between ours and this one. Itzhak informed me that our house was meant originally for a very good friend of his, which is why the best things had been put in place, but unfortunately the gentleman's wife became ill and hospitalised and it was not appropriate for them. Most of the people living in our building are friends of Itzhak and Nellys, so its like a little community, There is the penthouse, four apartments, and two garden apartments, one of which we have. Its so exciting, and just the fact that we are in the middle of the Carmel, which means everything is on hand and is going to make life very easy, we have multiple eateries, drinking establishments, all close by, the beach is tens minutes down the mountain, on a good day, with little traffic that is, the port is ten mins the other way, again depending on the traffic. Nelly is going to take me to the meat shop at the port when we move in, this is where she buys her own meat and she says its the best. The fruit and vegetables are in the market, again this is walking distance.
I went back to the hotel and Natalie looked up a few shops for me, and gave me the directions, tomorrow I looking for bar stools, for the breakfast bar, and also a bed, you can manage without most things but a bed isn't one of them.
My Beloved eventually got back from Herzliya, another meeting that took all day, we decided to go cleaner shopping, now I don't mean we were looking for a cleaner, what I mean is we shopped for things to clean with, we bought squeegees, and brooms and things to wipe and swipe, and glass squeegees, ready for when we move in. I need to ask either Natalie or Nelly which cleaning products to buy as I haven't got a clue here, and would hate to use comfort on the windows, or worse still bleach in the washer.
We ate in a lovely place called Spagettium or something, I had the chicken liver in red wine with onions, and My Beloved had a pasta dish with chicken, both our meals were gorgeous, I love the chicken livers, so soft and mouth watering, and we finished it off with desserts, one strawberry thingy for My Beloved, and one coffee type dessert for myself. My dish came with crunchy coffee beans and they were amazing.
We drove back to the hotel and went to bed very tired today, but at least My Beloved doesn't have such an early start tomorrow.
