Lou Lou's Birthday card to My Beloved |
I woke after having the best nights sleep ever, fully refreshed and ready to face the world. Blog done, Hebrew done, time to get cooking.
Today I made chicken liver pate once again, My Beloved loves it as do I, so I made plenty for the freezer and sorted through the washing. Candles were lit to take away the slight after smell of cooked liver, and then it was cleaning time, the patio and porch floors were washed and hosed, the path was hosed to remove the debris of the desert, and then it was time for lunch, which consisted of carrots with pate, rather lush it was too, especially as the pate was still warm, then back to the cleaning, the floors of the apartment were all washed, and swept.
I collected the post, some of which was ours, and some of which I took to Nelly, it turns out it was for Itzhak, thank the lord as it was a bill. The funky pigeon had arrived from Lou Lou, a birthday card for My Beloved. I took the elevator up to Nelly's to give her the post and sat on her balcony drinking and looking over the Haifa view she has from upstairs, much like ours only a little higher, with a wider horizon.
Nelly and I sat chatting about how she had moved here from Paris when she was 12, due mainly to the anti semitism that was rife in Paris at the time, it appears nothing changes when you hear the news.
I left Nelly's and headed out for a walk, first checking my lottery, now because I no longer live in the UK I am no longer eligible for the UK lottery so I had purchased a ticket for the Israeli lottery, unfortunately I had as much luck with that as I did in the UK.
I then took the steps all the way to the port, it was a strange kind of day, the sun never broke through the clouds, but the heat was up, so I meandered slowly down through Haifa, down past Wadi and into the port, then I took the Carmelit subway back up to Carmel centre and walked home, My Beloved had called to say he was just going into a meeting and would definitely be home in time for his Consultants appointment, this spurred me on to call the Consultant for directions, unfortunately I got the receptionist who didn't speak English, so I had to call poor Nelly and ask her to call and get directions for me.
Nelly called me back, that was when we discovered that the Sunday Monday thing had struck again, the blasted appointment was yesterday and we had missed it, so the receptionist arranged another appointment for us for tomorrow, so many times I have been caught out by the start of the week coming a day early, you would think I would be used to it by now.
Dr. Lavii also called as I had left a very apologetic message for him prior to his receptionist calling and rearranging. Natalie then called and has offered me a job, help with translating a 30 page document, and although I wasn't wanting payment, I have been offered two meals at the hotel for my services, so on Thursday I will be busy working so no disturbances please.
My Beloved called to say he was on his way home for his appointment, I gave him the good news, and then the bad news that it had been rearranged. We were going to stay through in Herzliyya this week as My Beloved has been there almost everyday since last Tuesday if I remember rightly, but we decided to stay home, but the poor lad is back again tomorrow, and sometimes it takes two hours to get there depending on how early you leave, earlier is better, a bit like going to Aberdeen, you go just that little bit late and its traffic all the way.
My Beloved arrived home and was very, very weary, and the trouble is, it all starts again tomorrow. We had a lovely supper of fillet steak, the taste was beautiful and although having cooked the beef himself My Beloved had initially thought his steak was too pink, but when he tasted it, and it melted in his mouth he conceded to the pink.
My Beloved generally cooks the steaks as I'm still nervous about killing such an expensive piece of meat, but I am determined to get to the back of this fear.
My Beloved once again had paperwork to do, so I left him to it, I watched a little TV, and pottered around the house. Once his paperwork was finished My Beloved joined me and we watched a film from the TV library, we only managed half way through before we were both needing sleep, so we took ourselves off to bed and dream land.
