Sand storms and cloudy days.

This morning was such a peculiar one, the sky was dark and cloudy, the weather was warm, I was up early as usual and the beef was in its marinade by 8am, ginger, soy, whisky and garlic, it should have been dry sherry but who drinks that these days, so whisky it is.

I tackled the housework that needed doing then showered, and was on the bus by silly o’clock to take myself to the beach for a walk along the front.  The bus dropped me at Hof HaCarmel central bus station, somewhere I have never actually been before, but walked passed on many occasions.  The station is really quite nice, and the shops were all worth a look, so I did.

Then it was time for my walk along the beach front, there was so many people who had the same idea, and I was cooking as soon as I started to walk, the dull sky was not dulling the heat, or the enthusiasm of the exercisers. I walked passed gentleman playing backgammon, I have seen these guys before and they have their own little area on the promenade where they meet each day, I was passed by joggers, and speed walkers carrying water bottles for weights, I passed people exercising on the gym equipment  set out along the prom, and little children running into the sea, and grown ups paddling along the waters edge. I had a beautiful if clammy walk along the beach, on passing The Leonardo apartments I gave Celia a call to see if she was home, but today Celia was in Tel Aviv having taken herself off on the train.

I walked up through the underpass and passed the pretty flower shop to the bus stop, a bus arrived and I took a mystery tour on the 115, nothing is every a straight line on this mountain, we went up, then round then down, and back up, just as I thought we were heading towards the Carmel Centre, we detoured and eventually ended up in Hadar, I saw the sign for the Carmelit and jumped off, subway back up the hill for me.

I arrived home with a new bottle of cleaner for the halogen hob thingy, and preceded to use the product and I must say it does what it says on the package, thank goodness, because I couldn't read it, but the guy at the shop assured me it was what I was needing.

I turned the beef in it's marinade and prepared a small salad for my lunch. The flowers were needing watering so I hosed them down, and the trees got a good drink too, the soil in the garden appears not very flower friendly, and although compost was put in when they were planted I think my poor plants need feeding, so I will have to have a trip to Isfiya this weekend.  The fruit trees however are looking rather lush as My Beloved bought home some fertiliser he had been given by a gentleman at work, apparently it does wonders for fruit trees.

The afternoon was spent with the Hebrew, such a strange language, they tell you there are vowel points which indicate the sound of the consonants, then they remove them from all articles printed or otherwise, the confusion to my English brain is immense. But I carry my iphone and use the translator to check things out, next time I'm out for lunch I will be practicing my reading with the menu, it will be slow, but I will have an English version on standby.

My Beloved who was once again being tortured in Herzliyya called to say he was stuck in traffic at Netanya just for a change, but would be home soon, I threw the beef in the oven, now having dyscalculia is not helpful when you are trying to work out how many minutes your beef should be in the oven, I managed to set the timer on the hob by turning on one of the rings, the trouble is when I turned off the opposite ring it turned the timer off, so I was left with my beef in and no idea when I should take it out, lucky for me My Beloved arrived and sorted me out, he is well used to my number issue and a dab hand in the kitchen. We had strange weather this evening, the sand was being dropped all over the neighbourhood, the sky was lit by lightening and the rain, which you could hardly call rain as it fell one drop every couple of feet, did nothing to clean away the layer of sand that had settled on everything, the wind was up too, which means one thing, I am gonna have a right royal mess on my bloody patio and porch tomorrow.

We eventually had our supper around 10pm due to a few things running over and testing out, the beef was amazing, even if I say so myself, the cheese cauliflower bake was yummy and the tatties were to die for, but at that time of night you could have served us anything and we would have ate it, we were both so tired that we sat for a little in front of the TV not really watching anything, My Beloved had tried to sort through the two days of mail he had not been able to deal with due to the Energy crisis but his head was pickled and his eyes were crossing, so he had shut the laptop and hid it in a corner.
