We arrived at the hotel and met up with Martin and Svenya the boys got started on all things work related and myself and Svenya left for a stroll around Limassol, unfortunately today was the day it started to rain, we managed to get to Cold Stone the ice cream store just as the heavens opened and we took refuge inside with a huge wedge of ice cream cake, I thought I had died and gone to chocolate heaven, Svenya tried to kid me that by taking the fruity variety she was being healthy, but that baby was wrapped in just as many ice cream calories as my chocolate delight.
We eventually decided the rain was not going to stop and our best bet would be a taxi ride back to the hotel, we found the boys where we had left them and sat with them completely destroying their peace and quiet.
We walked down the road a little and took a late lunch/supper together before we all headed to our rooms, me I took not well with being so tired and slept from around 6.30pm until 8am the next morning.
Nicosia was an odd little place, set up the mountains at the back of beyond, again the rain had followed us, so Svenya and I strolled around the little streets in the drizzle until we found umbrellas to buy for the ridiculous sum of 3 euros. We decided to take a stroll across the Border to the Turkish side of Nicosia, we arrived just as the call to pray was being blasted out of the mosque, and after a quick look around we decided we much preferred the European side of Nicosia and headed back across the border, Nicosia is now the only City in the world to be divided by a border between two countries.
We eventually met in with the boys again and headed for lunch, before heading back to Limassol and the gym, I beasted my backside on the bike, and actually had quite violent thoughts about the gents who were sharing the gym with me, super stud had entered - well he thought he was, first thing he did was check himself out in the mirror, second thing was to remove his t shirt and work out in the skimpiest shorts you have ever see, they actually looked a little like hot pants, he then preceded to strut his stuff on the treadmill, he walked whilst throwing all these punch type moves, but the worst thing he did, and this was what nearly got him punched was he talked to the guy across the other side of the gym who happened to be next to me, for the whole hour I was in the gym he yapped and yapped, I actually had trouble hearing the movie I was watching on my ipad as I cycled, grrrrrrr he irritated me so much that when I had broke the 400 calorie boundary I left the gym and finished my other exercises in the peace of my bedroom.
We spent a lovely evening with Svenya and Martin drinking and chatting in the hotel, aparently we got to bed sometime after midnight, and a long time after Martin and Svenya left, so you can imagine we felt a little bit ropey this morning, but full English breakfast sorted that out.
We left the hotel and headed up towards the port area, and we hired ourselves a bike each, they have the same kind of system here that they have in Tel Aviv, you can pick up a bike at one station and drop it at another, so we cycled around Limassol on our lovely new green bikes, now having a balance issue at the best of times did not make it easy for me when I discovered that if you pedal backwards a brake is applied immediately, I did wonder why there was only one hand brake on the bars, luckily I wasn't going fast when I applied it quite my accident. We had a lovely day exploring all the side streets, eating in the square and being out in the sun, we eventually arrived back at the hotel sometime after 4pm having had the bikes since 11am, we have decided to keep them for tomorrow so they are now tied up to the post outside the Crowne Plaza.
